Dangers of Driving on Rural Roads Highlighted

Road Safety Scotland and the Scottish Government have launched a new campaign to highlight the dangers of speeding on Scotland's rural roads.

Three out of four deaths occur on rural roads, resulting in an average of 188 deaths per year in Scotland

According to the Scottish Government almost 60% of those killed or seriously injured are between the ages of 17 and 39, with male drivers being found more likely to speed.

The Scottish Government and Road Safety Scotland have produced a series of advertisments in a bid to cut the number of fatalities. They will be shown in cinemas, on TV and online and the message will be broadcast on radio.

To find out more and to view the advertisments go to the Don't Risk It web site.
