HOW WE WILL ACHIEVE OUR GOALS

The overall management of community safety will be conducted by the Community Safety Executive. It will consist of statutory community planning partners together with the leaders of each theme group and voluntary sector representatives.

Typical membership will be a representative of Aberdeenshire Council Management Team; Local Authority Liaison Officer; Community Safety Officer; representative of Grampian Police; representative of Grampian Fire and Rescue Service; representative of NHS Grampian; representative of the local Community Safety Groups Network; representative of the voluntary sector. The Community Safety Executive will appoint its Chair on an annual basis.

The remit of the Executive will in general terms be to set briefs/targets/objectives for the various sub-groups, overall monitoring of budgets and performance for the Partnership, commissioning audits and other research work for the overall Community Safety Strategy, reviewing the strategy, preparing returns for the Scottish Executive, preparing reports for the Wellbeing Theme Group, Community Planning Steering Group, Policy and Resources Committee of the Council and other bodies with an interest in community safety, identifying training needs, organising the annual Community Safety Seminar, organising and reporting to the Community Safety Partnership Forum.

The Partnership will also be represented at and participate with national bodies such as the Scottish Community Safety Network SCSN, Scottish Accident Prevention Council SAPC, National Community Safety Network NCSN.

The seven Community Safety Groups strategically placed throughout Aberdeenshire will deliver community safety actions linked to the three themed priorities according to the needs of each community. The executive members of each group will meet at the Network meeting every eight weeks to discuss ongoing projects and to share best practice.

The Community Safety Executive have already sought and received bids from a wide range of bodies both voluntary and statutory to identify suitable projects that will aid the partnership to tackle its three themed priorities for the period 2005 - 2008.

Safe Drive Stay Alive participants

At the end of each financial year the executive will analyse each funded project to ensure that all actions/interventions, inputs, outputs, outcomes and milestones are being progressed or achieved. Continued project funding is dependent on a satisfactory performance.

This will allow the executive to be flexible and adaptable in light of changing social, criminal and financial influences.
