Young drivers are among the most enthusiastic about driving and their cars, so a new Press and Journal campaign will be coupled with a challenge to them to demonstrate their theoretical and practical driving skills in a competition to find the P&J Young Driver of the Year.

The competition, run in partnership with Grampian Police, the Knockhill Centre for Driver Excellence, the Institute of Advanced Motorists and Specialist Cars Seat, will be launched in the Your Car section of the Press & Journal on Wednesday, March 5. Look out for the entry form in Your Car. Just answer the questions it contains, send it off and you could be one of 25 semifinalists who will go forward to a driving assessment run by the Institute of Advanced Motorists. From those semi-finalists, 12 will be selected for a thrilling driving day at Scotland’s Centre for Driver Excellence, based at the national motorsport Centre at Knockhill, Fife.

During the event, a series of disciplined driving challenges on road and track will be set by Knockhill’s advanced driving experts and by top police driving instructors. The driver who does best on the day will be crowned Young Driver of the Year at the Taste of Grampian Motor Show in June when he or she will be able to drive away in the prize - a stunning new Seat Ibiza Sport.

The Young Driver of the Year competition is open to those who have not reached their 25th birthday by June 7, 2008. You must hold a full UK driving licence, must not have more than three penalty points on that licence and must never have been disqualified from driving for any reason.

You must be available to attend the finals day at the Knockhill Centre for Driver Excellence, based at Knockhill Racing CIrcuit, Fife, on Wednesday, May 1, 2008, if you are selected as one of the 12 finalists.

If you are then chosen as one of our top four drivers, you must be able to attend the Taste of Grampian event In inverurie on Saturday, June 7, for the final awards announcement, when the winner will collect the keys to their stunning new Seat lbiza Sport.

Full terms and conditions will appear alongside the entry form in the Your Car section of the Press & Journal on Wednesday, March 5 and March 12. The closing date for entries is Monday March 17.
