British Transport Police launch Operation Look 3 - Level Crossing Safety and Engagement.

Op Look – is the third operation of this type and is a multi agency week of action to target level crossing users.

Raising awareness, reducing risk and increasing safety at crossings is the driver for activity at level crossings.

National Rail’s target is to reduce risk at Level Crossings by further 25%.
This links into BTP’s target to reduce disruption by 20% by 2019.

A week of action is being undertaken to support the above…

Operation Look 3 Objectives:

  • Reducing risk and increase safety
  • To work in partnership to highlight the misuse issues around level crossings
  • Deal with offenders
  • Employ target hardening and crime reduction tactics at problem crossings
  • Educate the wider community in the use and dangers of crossings
