Scottish Fire and Rescue Service is staging a Crash Live event as part of its commitment to reducing the number of people killed or seriously injured on roads in Aberdeenshire.

The Crash Live event in partnership with Tesco is taking place at Tesco Car Park, Inverurie on Saturday 5th September and runs between 10am and 1pm..

Tesco is working in conjunction with the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service to reduce road accidents, helping to make the local community a safer place to work and live. Not only will there be the mini crash live event but other safety activity events within the store.

The aim of Crash Live is to raise awareness locally and enhance road safety across Aberdeenshire, an area which has witnessed its share of serious and fatal road incidents.

Scottish Fire and Rescue Service will also take the opportunity to promote fire safety within the home with the offer of booking a free home fire safety visit.

Members of the public are encouraged to attend the event. Crash Live is aimed at all ages and will involve inputs from SFRS (firefighters will be speaking about the difficult and often traumatic work they do at the scene of road traffic collisions) and there will be 'live' simulation of the aftermath of a serious road traffic collision. The incident will focus on the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service's response to such an incident and focus on all aspects.

SFRS Station Manager Chay Ewing said:

"The purpose of this event is to highlight the consequences of road traffic collisions and how they affect families of those involved as well as the businesses that employ them.

"Our aim is to highlight to key local employers the role that they can perform in changing the attitudes of the road users in Aberdeenshire and help reduce the numbers of people who are killed or seriously injured on our roads.

"Such incidents can result in a loss in productivity through staff shortfalls due to sickness but also be costly to employers as well as employees."
