The multi-agency Crash Live event is taking place at Garioch Community Centre on Saturday 4th April 2015 and runs between 2pm and 4pm.

The aim of Crash Live is to raise awareness locally and enhance road safety across Aberdeenshire, an area which has witnessed its share of serious and fatal road incidents.

Members of the public are encouraged to attend the event. Crash Live is aimed at all ages and will involve inputs from SFRS (firefighters will be speaking about the difficult and often traumatic work they do at the scene of road traffic collisions, Police Scotland and there will be 'live' simulation of the aftermath of a serious road traffic collision.

The incident will focus on the emergency services response to such an incident and focus on all aspects, from initial attendance, collision investigation to the harrowing role the Police have of informing the victims' relatives.

SFRS Station Manager Chay Ewing said:

"The purpose of this event is to highlight the consequences of road traffic collisions and how they affect families of those involved as well as the businesses that employ them.

"Our aim is to highlight to key local employers the role that they can perform in changing the attitudes of the road users in Aberdeenshire and help reduce the numbers of people who are killed or seriously injured on our roads.

"Such incidents can result in a loss in productivity through staff shortfalls due to sickness but also be costly to employers as well as employees." "
