Grampian Police Personal Safety Seminars September 2004 |

Grampian Police's South Aberdeenshire Command Area hosted two Personal Safety seminars on Monday 20 September. The seminars were funded by the Aberdeenshire Community Safety Partnership's Award Programme. The first of the seminars looked at Personal Safety for School Staff (teaching and all non-teaching roles), and was held at the Ashdale Hall, Westhill Drive, Westhill. The second event was organised by Darren Mills of the South Aberdeenshire Crime Prevention Unit, and looked at Personal Safety for Retail Staff. It was held at the Thainstone House Hotel, Inverurie. The seminar, organised by Sergeant Andy Verreydt, looked at Personal Safety for School Staff (teaching and all non-teaching roles), was held on Monday 20th September at the Ashdale Hall, Westhill Drive, Westhill. The seminar was attended by about 45 people.
This seminar covered basic personal safety issues, focusing on all school-based staff and the problems they encountered outside the classroom. There was time for questions and exchange of best practice.
The main presentation was made by Veronica Kinahan a training consultant with the Suzy Lamplugh Trust for the past five years. Mrs Kinahan is also a supply teacher in Perth and Kinross secondary schools.
