If you have passed your driving test, the Aberdeenshire Community Safety Partnership will give you £80 when you complete the Pass Plus scheme. It usually costs upwards from £150 to take the Pass Plus course so you save money and you could also make savings on the cost of your insurance.

Did you know that:

• 1/3 of all car drivers involved in an injury accident in Aberdeenshire are young or inexperienced?
• A driver aged 17 to 20 is SIX times more likely to be involved in an injury accident than a driver aged over 40?
• The probability of having an accident is reduced by 1/3 after only 1 year's driving experience?
• Statistics show that new drivers are more likely to have an accident in the first two years after passing their test, due to lack of driving experience.

These are some of the reasons why the Aberdeenshire Community Safety Partnership would like to encourage more new drivers to take part in the Pass Plus scheme.

It is also why some insurance companies are offering discounts for new drivers with a Pass Plus certificate.

Pass Plus is designed to raise driving standards and better equip new drivers to deal with the differing situations they are likely to meet after passing the driving test.

You should have received information on the Pass Plus scheme when you passed your driving test but further details can be obtained from the Driving Standards Agency (see below) or from the Pass Plus web site if necessary.

To get the £80 grant from the Aberdeenshire Community Safety Partnership:

• You must live in Aberdeenshire.
• You must complete the Pass Plus course of at least 6 sessions (but they can all be taken in one day by arrangement with the instructor).
• You must apply to the Aberdeenshire Community Safety Partnership before starting the Pass Plus course.

Remember that you could get £80 towards the cost of Pass Plus.
