As part of its drive to promote safer driving among young people the Kincardine and Mearns Community Safety Group have opened up a competition to all 16-19 year olds who are still at school in the area.

Kevin Hutchens, Chairperson of the group stated:

"We have set a challenge to people in the 16-19 age group at Portlethen, Mearns and Mackie Academies. Pupils are being asked to devise a campaign which will promote safety among drivers. In developing the idea they are asked to put forward a Business plan to make it work within a small budget of £300. The best plan will win a prize of up to £300 to carry out the idea and a free Pass Plus course to be used once the winner has passed their driving test.

"I feel sure that there are many brilliant, creative and imaginative ideas among the senior pupils at the local academies and that the entries will show that there are many varied ideas as to how to make our roads safer. I look forward to seeing the entries when they come in over the coming weeks."
