Community Asset Register

AN army of volunteers who own boats and 4x4s are offering to mobilise to protect and support their communities – in a unique partnership with the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS).

Members of rural communities who have access to private vehicles that can be used to cross water or negotiate rough and rural terrain have signed up to a Community Asset Register (CAR).

They also have a range of specialist skills such as mountain rescue.

And those volunteers can now be quickly identified through CAR which is operated and activated by Operations Control at times of significant emergency to enhance a full SFRS response.

The register will also be available to SFRS’ emergency service and local authority partners.

Volunteers who wish to offer their support should register an interest with SFRS.CommunityAssetRegister@firescotland.gov.uk

Scottish Community Development Centre is about to go on tour!

SCDC are planning to deliver ten community-focused workshops across Scotland on participation requests, and we're asking interested community and voluntary organisations to help...

Participation requests are part of the Community Empowerment (Scotland) Act and enable community bodies to start a dialogue with public service authorities about how to improve outcomes. An accessible introduction to participation requests can be read here.
SCDC would like to ask interested organisations in the community and voluntary sector to help us to host a workshop on participation requests for community organisations in their area. This would mainly involve helping us in terms of finding a suitable venue and promoting the event to as many local groups as possible.
They are hoping to arrange workshops between February and June 2018.
If you are interested in helping to host a workshop, please contact Andrew Paterson at SCDC on 0141 222 4837 or email andrew@scdc.org.uk.)
