The Banff and District Community Safety Group has more than 15 active members supporting projects which enhance the social responsibility of young people, such as constructive after school activities to discourage anti social behaviour, alcohol and substance misuse, safe driving schemes, such as Driving Ambition, and crime prevention, such as Pubwatch and Shopwatch. The Group also provides advice and training in safety issues and offers a range of safety and anti-crime products.
Tackling the Night TerrorsThe Banff and District Community Safety Group is helping to tackle the Night Terrors in Banff. Nick Dolphin, Group Chairman, said:
"Community safety is not just a matter for the Police and involves a community effort if it is to be truly effective in the long term."Read the article "Tackling the Night Terrors" that appeared in the Banffshire Journal.
Community Safety AwardsThe Banff and District Community Safety Group scooped three awards at the 2009 Community Safety Annual Seminar on the 28th March:
CSG Supports Primary Schools.

Road Safety - As part of a Shire-wide initiative and in collaboration with Aberdeenshire Council
the Banff and District CSG is providing up to £100
for young drivers (17 to 25 years old) to take six hours driving experience with a
PASS PLUS qualified instructor within one year of passing their driving test. An application form for Pass Plus funding from the Banff & District Community Safety Group is available:

High Visibility Vests - The Banff and District CSG
is offering the Primary Schools , pre-School Playgroups and Newsagents in our area
high visibility vests to improve the security of children amd young people in their

Promotion in the Community - The Banff and District CSG
regularly undertakespromotional activities, such as stalls at local events, leafleting
and press coverage. 2008 activities include:

Safety Equipment - The Banff and District CSG
continues to promote and provide a variety of safety products including:
UV pens for marking household equipment, bikes, etc are free and all other items cost £2 but are free to those who cannot afford them. More than a hundred products were either sold or donated during the year.
These products can be obtained from the Banff Police Station or the office of the Banffshire Journal in Bridge Street, Banff.

Smart Mousemats - the Banff & District CSG has funded its own smart mousemats with contact details of the local emergency services. Police, Crimestoppers, Fire & Rescue service and the Maritime & Coastguard Agency have all supplied their details. The mousemats also include the Community Safety Logo and web site details and features an image of Banff Bridge.
Four hundred mousemats have been distributed to local businesses, Banff Academy and Primary schools.
