FIRST CLASS – Putting a Stop to Vandalism

First Class is an initiative adopted by First in partnership with Aberdeenshire Community Safety Partnership, Aberdeen City Community Safety Partnership, British Transport Police, Grampian Police, Grampian Fire and Rescue Service and Crimestoppers Scotland.

First Class is a double decker bus, donated by First, which has been converted into a mobile resource available to its partners and other organisations to educate children and young people about the dangers and consequences of crime and vandalism.

First Class is the result of two years of hard work and commitment. It was felt that a bus, developed into a mobile classroom would be something that could be utilised by a variety of schools and organisations across Aberdeen city and Aberdeenshire to combat youth related vandalism.

The steering group involved pupils from Northfield Academy and Portlethen Primary School to help create something that would appeal to young people. The input of the pupils was critical in relation to the design of the computer game (Toonion Street Racers, designed by students at Grays School of Art), the external design of the bus and the contents now carried inside the vehicle. The name "First Class" came from a pupil at Northfield Academy.

Computer equipment and a 42" plasma screen were donated by Internet For Business Ltd.

Further information on the First Class bus and how to book it are available on the First website.
